This week we have Google testing a new SERP feature (infinite scroll!), a wonderful guide to twitter chats, an outstanding study of content performance online, and a recap of the Penguin algorithm thus far.

Let's get into it.

1. Steve Rayson's "Content, Shares, and Links: Insights from Analyzing 1 Million Articles."

This study, by Steve Rayson of BuzzSumo, is something every website owner, SEO, and online marketer needs to read and consider. BuzzSumo and Moz examined 1,000,000 pieces of content online and their findings flip online marketing conventions on their head. Highlights include no correlation between social shares and links, and over 50% of content examined having no external links.

2. Olga Andrienko's "The Ultimate Guide to Twitter Chats by SEMrush [Free PDF]."

Nobody does Twitter chats like SEMrush. Here at Linkarati we've been doing our own Twitter chat for nearly six months (#LinkaratiChat), and even still I found useful insights within Olga's guide that I'll apply to future chats. If you're at all involved in Twitter chats, you'll enjoy this guide.

3. Garrett French's "The Opportunity Prospector: Link Development's Most Undervaled Role."

If you're doing any level of link building this is a post you'll want to read. Garrett's experience and understanding shine through here, and anyone involved in link building should learn something from this post.

4. Barry Schwartz's "Google Testing Infinite Scroll Search Results?"

A few people noticed Google testing infinite scroll search results in the wild SERPs. Although personally I doubt this will come to fruition--Google would ad opportunity--interesting implications abound. Worth noting and keeping on your radar. Thanks for the report, Barry.

5. Marie Haynes' "The Current Status of Google's Penguin Algorithm."

Few in the SEO realm have Marie's level of experience with Penguin and link audits. She's the go-to source. In this post, Marie breaks down the current status of the algorithm and her insights into future updates and refreshes. Great piece, good for beginners and experts alike.
